Lake Adventures

Nothing beats the heat of a summer afternoon like getting out on the water around West Yellowstone. We suggest a quiet float down the river or kayak adventure along the lakeshore. If you have a need for speed, boat rentals are available for water skiing.

Boating

Area lakes are great for a casual wildlife-watching cruise, fishing excursion, or high-speed watersports. Ice moves off in late April, and the water warms for swimming by July. From July through September is the best time for water sports. Hebgen Lake accommodates both large and small boats, personal watercraft, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, and sailboats. Marinas have motorboat, canoe, and kayak rentals as well as gas and supplies.

Kayaking

Looking for a unique way to experience the beautiful waters of the Yellowstone region? Try kayaking or a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) on the area lakes in and around Yellowstone National Park. Whether you desire a quiet day of solitude or a day filled with family fun, you will forever cherish a kayak or SUP adventure surrounded by breathtaking nature.
