Rendezvous Under The Stars This Winter Join us in West Yellowstone, Montana for a winter experience unlike any other. West Yellowstone, MT is home to some of the best outdoor winter experiences, from snowshoeing and Nordic skiing to ice fishing and snowmobiling, you can find yourself enjoying the great outdoors more than ever before. With over 50km of groomed Nordic ski trails and 400 miles of snowmobile trails, take your time exploring the Great White North. West Yellowstone is proud to host a variety of events throughout the year that range from educational to athletic and everything in between, and with the short winter days, there is even one that will allow you to safely extend your adventure into the starry night. From January to March, join the U.S. Forest Service for a moonlight stroll through the Rendezvous Ski Trail at the Moonlight Ski & Snowshoe event. This well-known trailhead can be found just a short walk away from any part of town at the south end of Geyser Street. You’re welcome to ski or snowshoe, through the trails, and end the night at the stadium, warming up around the bonfire with s’mores and hot chocolate. This after-hours experience is sure to keep you coming back for more. Wondering what you’re up against? The Rendezvous Ski Trail is managed in a cooperative partnership among the Forest Service, the West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce, and the West Yellowstone Ski Education Foundation. It consists of 50 kilometers of well-groomed trails that take you through open meadows and Lodgepole pine forests. Happening only four times throughout the 22/23 season, experience the Rendezvous Ski Trail in a new light – moonlight. This unique event, Moonlight Skiing & Snowshoeing, will be held on December 9, 2022, January 6, 2023, February 3, 2023, and March 10, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Ski or snowshoe one mile through the trail to the Stadium area, where a bonfire will be waiting for you with everything you need to make s’mores and hot chocolate.
