West Yellowstone Transfer Station Previous Next Place Category: Recycling & Trash InformationPhotosMonths OpenWest Yellowstone residents and businesses may utilize a Gallatin County transfer station locate 4 miles north of town off Highway 191. In 1970 West Yellowstone began to think about closing its landfill. By 1983 the landfill was capped and the transfer station was built next to it. The 13 acre compound was designed to handle approximately 1,500 tons of waste per year from the Town of West Yellowstone, Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding Hebgen Basin region. The approximation currently is close to 6,000 tons per year. Hours Summer (May 1st – October 31st): Monday-Friday 8 am-4 pm; Saturday 9 am-1 pm Winter (November 1st-April 30th): Tuesday and Thursday 10 am-4 pm; Saturday 9 am-1 pm Additional Information The station also supports recycling. At no additional charge your newspapers, plastics, refillable camping propane canisters and more can be disposed of appropriately. Visit the local station for details and specifics.
