Originally established in 1983 following the closure and capping of the town’s landfill, the facility was designed to handle approximately 1,500 tons of waste annually and today processes nearly 6,000 tons each year.In addition to convenient waste disposal services, the transfer station supports environmental stewardship through a variety of recycling opportunities. Newspapers, plastics, refillable camping propane canisters, and other recyclable materials can be properly disposed of at no additional charge, helping protect the natural beauty of the Greater Yellowstone region.Serving the community year-round with seasonal operating hours, the West Yellowstone Transfer Station plays an important role in promoting responsible waste management and preserving the area’s remarkable landscapes for future generations.Hours: Summer (May 1st – October 31st): Monday-Friday 8 am-4 pm; Saturday 9 am-1 pm Winter (November 1st-April 30th): Tuesday and Thursday 10 am-4 pm; Saturday 9 am-1 pmAdditional Information: The station also supports recycling.
